Siding Company Duo Steps in to Help Those Affected by May Hail Storms

After a nasty hail storm left homes in a Colorado trailer park damaged, management threatened to evict all residents who didn’t have the repairs made by December 29. When two owners of a local siding company heard that grim news, they knew they needed to step in and help.

Mario Medina and Jim Ringwood of Siding Repairs, LLC, heard that the residents would have to move out immediately if they didn’t have the windows and siding fixed following the May hailstorm. The residents were told of the news in November and were expected to have the repairs made before the new year. According to the Golden Patch, Medina and Ringwood drove to the trailer park upon learning this news and started to help.

The pair knocked on doors asking what they needed help with and figured out what they needed to do. They said that their business had a pretty successful year, so they felt as though this was the perfect time to “pay it forward.”

“If they tell us, all of them, ‘We don’t have the money,’ then we’re willing to go ahead and start at it. Buying what we need in materials and doing it ourselves,” Medina said. “This is mission critical! They’re looking at January 1 evictions here,” Ringwood said.

The residents of the park were completely caught off guard when they found out that there were at risk of eviction. The hailstorm caused more than $1 billion in damages across the area and even impacted a local mall, which just recently reopened.

Patty Brown, a resident of the park, said five of her windows were damaged. She said that if she didn’t make the repairs in the allotted time, she would be homeless. Brown referred to Medina and Ringwood as “angels” as they stepped in to help during one of the most financial-burdening times of the year. The pair made repairs to windows and fixed up siding with materials such as vinyl. Vinyl siding is great because it is low maintenance and doesn’t need to be painted.

Roofs and siding are especially vulnerable to hail damage, as a roof makes up 40% of the visual exterior of the typical American home. Fortunately, these American homeowners received a helping hand just in time for the Christmas season, allowing them to literally keep a roof over their family’s heads.

When the duo stepped in, it was seen as a blessing for many residents who couldn’t afford to pay for repairs. Other parks in the area were able to be assisted by not-for-profit groups to help them rebuild following the storm.
